Koffee’s “Gimme” collab with Sam Smith & Jessie Reyez debuts at No. 60 on the Official U.K. chart after showing up at at No. 56 on the midweek chart. The controversial track also debuted on the U.K. Hip-Hop/R&B Singles chart at No. 35.
While Popcaan’s “We Caa Done” featuring Drake moves up 11 slots to No. 50. The sing along track found a new peak No. 25 on the UK Hip-Hop/R&B Singles chart, and moves up from No. 15 to No. 11 on the U.K. Indie Singles chart.
“We Caa Done” had entered at No. 61 last week. Popcaan’s last entry in the U.K. Singles chart was Twist and Turn with DRAKE and also featuring Partynextdoor in 2020 which peaked at No. 69.
Meanwhile Koffee had three previous singles on the U.K. Official Singles Chart: “Repeat” with J-Hus (2020) which peaked at No. 21 and spent 8 weeks on the chart. “W” featuring Gunna(2019) from her Grammy winning debut Ep. “Rapture” peaked at No. 80. And Toast peaked at No. 70.
Koffee’s debut album “Gifted” took the No. 9 spot on the UK Top 100 albums chart.
The album also landed at number 5 on the physical albums chart and that makes Koffee the first female Jamaican to make the UK albums chart’s top ten.
Other women of Jamaican descent to climb the UK albums chart are Stefflon Don and Diana King.
Stefflon Don’s 2018 Ep. “Secure” peaked at 35 and Diana King’s 1995 album Tougher Than Love peaked at number 50 on the top 100 chart.
Since Koffee came on the scenes she has gotten alot of label support. After winning the Grammy for Best Reggae Album in 2020, John Fleckenstein, co-president of RCA said to Rolling Stones “Koffee’s success continues, it’s not gonna end in Jamaica. It’s gonna end on a global level.”
The UK’s Top 100 biggest singles of midweek is compiled by the Official Charts Company, based on sales of downloads, CDs, vinyl and audio and video streams across Friday – Sunday.
PopCaan was the mastermind behind Koffee’s 2020 YouTube hit “Locked Down”.
The two were also seen the music video.
The St.Thomas DJ dropped the trailer to his album “Great Is He” set for January 27 which will feature Burna Boy, Chronic Law, and Drake.
