Rapper turned businessman Jay-Z has deleted his Instagram page 24 hours after joining.
Unlike like his wife Beyonce, Shawn Carter has never been on to relished in the social media limelight, so many were surprised when he joined the Meta-owned app on Wednesday. He received almost 2.6 million followers within the 24 hours and rapper Meek Mill even encouraged him to drop a selfie.
“@JAYZ TAKE A PIC SO THEY KNOW ITS TA REAL PAGE,”
Meek said on his Instagram stories followed by laughing emojis.
The single post on the social media page was a flier for his Netflix movie The Harder They Fall directed by Jeymes Samuel, starring Regina King and Idris Elba.
However it seems like the engagement from both friends and strangers was too stimulating for the reclusive rapper as the page was deleted within a few hours.
Fans and social media users also made jokes about the fact that his wife Beyonce was the only person he followed, and vice versa.
This was his second time making a cameo appearance on the social media app. In 2015, he created a profile under the name @hovsince96.
Reactions started coming in on twitter about the Brooklyn MC’s disappearance from the platform.
“Jay-Z deleting Instagram after one day is funny and he’s not wrong,” one user tweeted.

“He probably lost a million dollar bet with his homeboy somewhere and had to be on for 24 hours,” another added.
While another said, ”He doesn’t need it”.
He doesnt need it, he’s one of the most powerful people in the world to where social media does nothing for him

In 2019, Jay-Z became the first billionaire rapper. In March this year, his net worth jumped from $1 billion to $1.4 billion after selling majority of his streaming service Tidal to Jack Dorsey mobile payment company, Square for $297 million.
