HarbourView Equity Partners Expands Its Music Portfolio with 2 More Iconic Acquisitions

Global alternative asset management company, HarbourView Equity Partners (HarbourView), has made 2 additions to its music portfolio. In two separate deals, the firm has acquired a share of the recorded music and publishing assets of rock legends Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, as well as the share of Fleetwood Mac’s recorded music royalties owned by the estate of the late Christine McVie.

Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo: A Rock Power Couple’s Legacy

The New Jersey based firm has joined hands with multi-Grammy-winning artist Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, an iconic power couple in rock history known for shaping the 1980s music landscape.

Their legendary collaboration resulted in hit songs like “We Belong,” “Love is a Battlefield,” and “Promises In the Dark.” Together, they’ve achieved multi-platinum and Grammy success, selling over thirty million records worldwide.

“We are overjoyed to welcome into our repertoire the iconic catalog of Pat and Neil. The works are cross-generational, inspirational, and a perfect complement to our portfolio,” said a statement from HarbourView.

This acquisition adds to HarbourView’s extensive catalogue which includes a reported $100 million purchase of Louis Fonsi’s catalogue containing YouTube’s most streamed song “Despacito.”

Sherrese Clarke Soares speaks on stage at the Billboard Power 100 Event held at Goya Studios on February 1, 2023 in Los Angeles, California.

The company founded by Billboard’s 2022 Power 100 woman Sherrese Clarke Soares and named after a community in Jamaica, says in a statement to WMV that it is committed to becoming a standard for excellence and integrity in investing in intellectual property, spanning music, film, TV, and sports. They were also the bidding process for Paramount Global’s stake in BET earlier this year, but the negotiations have since been called off.

In another significant move, HarbourView has secured the share of Fleetwood Mac’s record royalties owned by the estate of Christine McVie. McVie, a groundbreaking female artist, played a vital role in shaping Fleetwood Mac’s sound with classics like “Don’t Stop” and “Little Lies.” She was an inspiration to female musicians in the male-dominated music industry of the 70s and 80s.

McVie’s legacy is celebrated with this acquisition, and her contributions to the iconic band are upheld with pride. Fleetwood Mac, one of the world’s most popular bands, continues to captivate all generations of listeners.

Christine McVie’s journey with Fleetwood Mac, from her marriage to John McVie to her iconic contributions, was pivotal in cementing the band’s legacy. Her career was marked by numerous accolades, including the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution and an Ivor Novello award.

McVie reunited with Fleetwood Mac in 2014, and the band continued to tour the world, culminating with the release of the definitive compilation album “50 Years: Don’t Stop.”

Legal counsel for these transactions were provided by Derek Crownover at Loeb & Loeb for the Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo deal, and Fox Rothschild for the Christine McVie acquisition.

The terms of both transactions were not disclosed.
