Reggae music and sports have always had a relationship and boxer Tyson Fury uses it as inspiration and a means to connect with fans. Recently he was the delight of the town after he busted some dance moves in the middle of Newcastle to some Bob Marley sing overs.
He left Jenna Cole, 20, and Olivia Irvin, 22, in a state of shock couldn’t believe it when the boxing legend, 33, asked to hear their tunes, and was filmed dancing along to their upbeat reggae covers.
The pair watched as he danced with fans to their cover versions of reggae songs.
Jenna said that Olivia had to rush to a nearby shop to buy a new mic stand as the leg had fallen off their old one.
While she was in the shop, Tyson approached Jenna and asked to hear their music.
The pro athlete donned a colourful ensemble in a bright yellow T-shirt teamed with crimson red basketball shorts.
Fan favourite: They pair watched as he danced in the street near Monument with fans to four of their songs, and posed for snaps
The singer said that due to him wearing a ‘Tyson Fury’ T-shirt, she initially wasn’t sure it was him.
Jenna, from Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, said: ‘He was dressed like a lifeguard, I thought he was a lookalike. Lots of people started getting pictures and I just didn’t say anything to him,” she told the Daily Mail.
‘He came over to me and said “Are you a singer?” she continued.
‘I thought that’s Tyson Fury, I could tell by his voice. He said “I love street performers, what type of music do you play?”
‘I said “Reggae, hip hop, Fleetwood Mac, 80s” and he said “Unreal”.’
‘I told him I wasn’t starting yet as I was in a duo and he said “I’m going to go and buy some trainers from JD and I’ll come back and I’ll watch you.”
‘He walked away from me and I was like what on earth, I was really disorientated.
The street performer then rushed over to her singing partner to share the exciting news.
The busker added: ‘He was stood dancing with us and videoing us and he was really impressed.
‘Everyone started swarming to him. It was honestly great, it was so surreal. It got us both really buzzing. For him to stand for four songs, he must have liked it.’
Fury has always been embraced by reggae music and he has embraced the music more than ones.
Reggae singer Leroy Jones released the song Tyson Fury (The Champ) in 2015.
Fury posted the song on his twitter calling Jones his uncle. Saying, “Just been listening to my uncle Leroy fury singing the champ reggae tune,”

Last year the boxing champ was a guest on the Latish show with dancehall star Beenie Man dancing and being a hype man for Beenie on the British television show.
Reggae is also the preferred music of the champion. He posted himself singing Morgan Heritage, “I’ll be Down By The River in 2015.
“This is how we get down in the gym,” he says as Sanchez blast out of his speakers in his boxing gym.
