“Honey Boy” Gives Shenseea First Entry On Billboard Sweden Songs Chart

Jamaica’s leading star Shenseea earns her first entry on the Sweedish Billboard Songs chart with her collaboration ‘HONEY BOY,’ released via SONY MUSIC GERMANY/RCA RECORDS. The song by multi-platinum artist and Grammy-Award winning producer PURPLE DISCO MACHINE debuts at #2 for the week ending May 18, 2024.

Also featured on the track is Swedish hit maker Benjamin Ingrosso global music icon Nile Rogers.

In a release, Ingrosso shares the genesis of the song: “I conceived ‘Honey Boy’ one night at a nightclub in Stockholm, swept away by the rhythm of a house beat that had me instantly humming along to what would later become the chorus. That melody lingered in my mind for an entire year. It wasn’t until I found myself nodding along to a disco track in a Chinese restaurant that it all clicked. It had to be a disco song. Inspired by a memorable encounter in the city’s nightlife, the song swiftly evolved from concept to studio recording. Once recorded, we all sensed the song’s potential and knew we had to enlist more talented influences to fully realize it. I reached out to Tino (Purple Disco Machine) to finalize it with me, and he was on board! After refining the song and crafting what we believed was the perfect foundation, we invited Shenseea to join in and add her touch. The final piece fell into place when Tino brought Nile Rodgers on board to infuse the track with authentic disco-era vibes. During my Europe tour, I teased the song, and ‘Honey Boy’ proved irresistible, compelling everyone to dance.”
