Notably, a country song tops the season-ending tally for the first time since 1974, with Luke Combs’ “Fast Car” at No. 2. Country hits now claim the top two spots for the first time in decades.
Rema and Selena Gomez’ “Calm Down” is at No. 3 on the list. The song spend 53 weeks on the Hot 100.
The 20-position Songs of the Summer tally, tracks the most popular titles based on cumulative performance on the weekly streaming, airplay, and sales-based Billboard Hot 100 chart from Memorial Day through Labor Day (this year encompassing charts dated June 10 through Sept. 9). Calm Down stayed in the top ten on the Hot 100 all summer.

(“Cruel Summer” is also the first “summer”-titled Songs of the Summer chart hit since Calvin Harris’ “Summer,” which placed at No. 8 in 2014.)
