U.K. actor and rapper Idris Elba is spending the holidays in Jamaica—Portland, to be exact—as he records new music on the island.
The Boasty singer posted an image of himself at Geejam Studios yesterday (December 26), wishing everyone, “Happy Holidays, good people.”
Two hours later, mix engineer Universvl, who is the brother to reggae singer Chronixx posted a video with the two, saying he had just completed a “mad session” with the American Gangster actor.
The siting comes days after Vybz Kartel revealed in an interview with BBC Capital Xtra that he has new music with Elba.
Elba’s Jamaican connections go way back and include the movie Yardie starring Sheldon“Sheppie” Shepherd and Everaldo “Evie” Creary of the group No-Maddz, but earlier this year for Calvin Klein’s Spring 2024 Menswear campaign with Idris, Dawn Penn’s iconic song “You Don’t Love Me (No No No)” became the soundtrack . The commercial shot in East London by Turkish photographer Mert Alas, features Elba confidently modeling Calvin Klein’s trench coats and jackets. Elba praised the brand’s fit and comfort, particularly highlighting their classic white tee.
Elba is not yet confirmed to be on Freedom Street, but with new collaborations with Kartel fans can look forward to seeing the two together soon.
As for Freedom Street, Vybz Kartel announced that Bounty Killer and Masicka are two late additions to the show.
