Jamaica Turns To Gospel On YouTube Charts In Aftermath Of Hurricane Melissa

YouTube Jamaica this week looks like the playlist Jamaica needed to recover from Hurricane Melissa — part therapy session, part prayer meeting, part street dance powered by generator and vibes.

Jaame.sss remains Beloved and Blessed featuring Skatta Lola at No. 1 for the 10th week, which honestly feels prophetic after the Category 5 storm. The man’s holding that top spot like a roof that actually survived the winds. Iris Stryx stays steady at No. 2 with Enchanting — because somehow, even after no light and low data, Jamaicans still found a way to stream her song 273,000 times.

Romain Virgo finally shows up with Finally at No. 3 — fitting, since most people only just got back Wi-Fi this week. Skippa continues his chart domination like the hurricane didn’t even faze him. Between Currency, 10 Past 2, Go, and Evil, the man clearly has a backup generator and data plan stronger than the JPS grid.

But the real comeback story belongs to Jermaine Edwards, who rolled out four brand-new songs in one go — Wake Up, Fight, Fire in My Heart, and Love You Today — flooding the chart with gospel and motivation right when the island needed it most. Melissa might have flooded roads, but Jermaine flooded the timeline with faith.
