Mona Bell, a Jamaican-American who started out in the world of entertainment as an actress in several Jamaican roots plays, then transitioned into making a few off-Hollywood movie series, plans to bring Jamaican dancehall culture to Sin City for the third time. The upscale dancehall event started out as a one day birthday celebration in 2020 but has now morphed into a full weekend of activities in the dessert dubbed Las Vegas Brunch Weekend.

Mona talks exclusively with WMV about the event scheduled for September 15-17 with some of dancehall’s top DJs such as Ikel Marvelous and Boom Boom.

Why Las Vegas Brunch Weekend?

In 2020, we were all eagerly searching for a reason to go outside. The concept of an outdoor brunch came to me and after the first staging, every year I’m inspired to do more. With the introduction of Las Vegas Brunch Weekend, it’s only right that MWB is the centered event, as our patrons travel from as far as Belize, Jamaica and Toronto, for the fashionable all white brunch party.

What is Milk White Bruch?

Milk White Brunch Soirée is an upscale Caribbean experience that brings music, food, and fashion together in one place. The theme and dress code are all white attire so everyone is on the same level. The entertainment and food are always TOP TIER.

What is the food like?

Authentic Jamaican cuisine. Boiled banana, yam, Ackee, oxtail, etc. Just come eat some good food and party with some nice people.

Our guest chef catering this year is a Jamaican who hails from Trench Town in West Kingston. His name is  Barry. He owns a Jamaican restaurant and juice bar, called Jerk Dat. Our mixologist is also Jamaican, but resides in Atlanta. She’s been providing excellent bartending services in Georgia for almost a decade. Her name is Nerissa. She’s also my big sister, lol.

For anyone attending, what tips you suggest for making the trip across the Atlantic?

The best way to prepare for an event like this is BOOK IN ADVANCE. MWB happens in the city of Las Vegas, my patrons are traveling by all means. Advance booking saves money and eliminates the hassle of figuring out things at the last minute.

The venue is stunning. Palm trees that go up almost 3 stories high. Emerald green turf grass, balcony views. An open area, with a food court, pool, and a great vantage point to see the sunset above the mountains.

MWB has a reputation for bringing world-class entertainment by our selection of DJs. I can assure you that this year will be no different.

Are there any performances?

Yes!!! There will be a surprise guest performances for my brunch babes. I’m excited about that. But also, I’ve decided to give this year’s patrons gift bags as a “Token of thanks”.

What about security?

The safety of our supporters is actually a top priority for us. Security will be in the parking area, at the entrance, and security on the inside. It’s just protocol.

What else should patrons know?

There is a very STRICT dress code. We respectfully ask that our supporters adhere to the “all white” rule (as stated on the flyer). Milk White Brunch Soiree is an upscale Caribbean experience that brings music, food, and fashion together in one place. The theme and dress code are all white attire. The entertainment and food are always TOP TIER.
