Jennifer Lopez’s New Single “Can’t Get Enough” Dips In Dancehall With Sean Paul/Alton Ellis’ Interpolation

Jennifer Lopez is gearing up for the release of her first solo album in almost a decade. The multifaceted artist will be releasing the lead single “Can’t Get Enough” which has an Sasha sample from Sean Paul’s- “I’m Still In Love With You” interpolation.

The Grammy-winning singer and accomplished actor offered fans a tantalizing glimpse of the upcoming track on Tuesday , November 27, through a 30-second preview on instagram.

The single, slated for release on January 10, draws inspiration from Sean Paul’s 2003 dancehall hit, “I’m Still In Love With You,” featuring Sasha, itself a reinterpretation of Alton Ellis‘ 1960s classic, “I’m Still In Love With You Girl.”

Producer for the interpolated song Murray Elias commented to WMV that.

“The version we did was really based on the Joe Gibbs production of the Marcia Aitkens/Trinity version of the Alton Ellis classic “I’m Still In Love With You”. And the hook J. Lo sings was sung by Sasha, (Sasha Chin). It was a Sean Paul and Sasha record produced by yours truly with Steely & Clevie originally from the Old To The New Joe Gibbs tribute album. Later as Sean’s A&R we put it on Dutty Rock because the team believed in the record.”

J. Lo has always loved dancehall music as Elephant Man recalled a time in 2004 during an interview when she heaped praises at the Pon Di Riva artist, “When mi do suh and duh di interview an a guh dung Jennifer Lopez seh, ‘Elephant!’ and drop pan har long skirt. A me haffi seh come Mumma, tek time nuh Jen-Jen.”

In addition to the single teaser, J. Lo unveiled a trailer for her upcoming album titled “This Is Me…Now,” describing it as a “musical experience.” The full album is scheduled to hit the shelves on February 16.

Jennifer Lopez’s latest musical endeavor comes as part of a new deal with BMG, a collaboration that was formalized in September. “This Is Me…Now” is positioned as a sequel to her 2002 album, “This is Me…Then,” which featured chart-topping hits like “Jenny From The Block” with Styles P and Jadakiss, and “All I Have” with LL COOL J.

Recorded between 2022 and 2023 in J. Lo’s personal space, the sequel boasts production contributions from industry heavyweights such as Hit-Boy, Ink, Tay Keith, Yeti Beats, Carter Lang, and Kim “Kaydence” Krysiuk.

BMG’s CEO, Thomas Coesfeld, owners of the Trojan U.K. catalog, the label the Alton record for, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with her and her team to release her first album in nearly a decade.” He added, “We are both excited and proud to partner with Jennifer Lopez on this long-awaited sequel to This is Me…Then. Clearly written with love and through experience, This Is Me…Now is uplifting and inspiring. ‘Jenny From The Block’ is back at a point in her career when her message is bigger than ever.”

While this marks Lopez’s first full album release in nearly ten years, she has intermittently shared music over the years. Lopez has also continued to make waves in the entertainment industry, with her 2019 film “Hustlers” garnering critical acclaim. Her standout performance in the film earned her a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the Golden Globes, marking her return to the prestigious awards after more than two decades.

In a December 2019 Instagram post, Lopez expressed her pride in the recognition, stating, “Could not be prouder to be recognized by the #HFPA… I am proud and honored to represent [the film] and this film!!!! @goldenglobes #HustlersMovie #Ramona.”
