Kano’s “Can’t Hold We Down” (ft Popcaan) becomes certified Silver in the UK

Both Kano and Popcaan now have 9 and 8 BritCertified Silver certifications respectively

Kano’s track “Can’t Hold We Down” featuring Popcaan has just gone Silver in the UK, selling 200,000 units through streams and sales , according to the British Phonographic Industry as of August 16, 2024.

Released on August 29, 2019, “Can’t Hold We Down” is part of Kano’s album “Hoodies All Summer,” which followed his 2016 LP “Made in the Manor.” The song features a sample from Capleton’s 1992 track “Everybody,” making it the first track with Capleton’s vocals to achieve Silver certification in the UK.

Kano, real name Kane Brett Robinson released a new two-part music video for “Can’t Hold We Down,” featuring Popcaan, The video highlights Kano’s connection to Jamaica and its culture, showing him sifting through family photos and reflecting on cherished memories.

It also features appearances from Giggs, Ghetts, Lethal Bizzle, and Popcaan’s friends and family. Kano discusses his musical influences and the importance of giving a voice to the voiceless.

“Can’t Hold Me Down” marks Popcaan’s 8th Silver certification in the U.K. and comes a week after the international dancehall sensation solidified his place in music history by becoming the first dancehall artist ever to sell out the iconic Crystal Palace Bowl in London. The event was the London staging of his Unruly Fest promoted by Live Nation.
