Ye’s (formerly Kanye West’s) concert in São Paulo Brazil, originally scheduled for November 29 at the Interlagos Racetrack, has been officially canceled by city authorities following allegations that the rapper made statements promoting Nazism.
The decision was announced by São Paulo Mayor Ricardo Nunes, who emphasized that no artist accused of spreading hate or supporting extremist ideologies would be allowed to perform in public venues.
“In facilities owned by the city, no one who promotes Nazism will perform or sing a single word,” Nunes stated.
The cancellation comes amid a growing backlash surrounding West’s controversial song “Heil Hitler” and a civil investigation launched by the São Paulo Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPSP) for alleged apology of Nazism. Authorities confirmed that West could face immediate arrest if he performs, promotes, or publicizes any content referencing Nazi ideology while in Brazil.
City officials further declared that steps are being taken to ensure West does not perform the song or make antisemitic remarks during any potential appearance in the country.
West’s production team said they were “surprised” by the unilateral revocation of their concert permit and are working with event administrators to resolve the situation.
The show would have marked Kanye West’s first return to Brazil in 14 years, following his last performance at the 2011 SWU Festival, alongside acts like Black Eyed Peas, Snoop Dogg, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
However, this latest controversy adds to a long list of public incidents involving West, who has faced widespread criticism for antisemitic comments and racist outbursts, as well as for defending fellow rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, currently serving time for prostitution.
