Kanye West’s “We Don’t Care” Surpasses 100 Million Streams on Spotify

The track from The College Dropout continues to highlight Kanye’s enduring legacy, as the album celebrates over 2.5 billion streams on the platform.

“We Don’t Care” by Kanye West has surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify. The song which is track 2 on Ye’s debut album College Dropout is his 110th song to reach the milestone. Writing credits on the song include Israeli-American violinist Miri Ben-Ari, Canadian musician Ross Vanelli.

Miri Ben-Ari was also a writer on Kanye’s hit Jesus Walks form College Dropout. 

Overall, Kanye has surpassed 50 billion streams on Spotify with 8 singles surpassing 1 billion streams. College Dropout has surpassed 2.5 billion streams, his 14th most streamed album on the Platform.

Released on February 10, 2004, The College Dropout marked Kanye West’s bold entrance into the rap scene, establishing him as both an innovative producer and an artist in his own right.

The album also featured live drums, string accompaniments, and gospel choir elements, setting it apart from the typical production of the time. Collaborators such as Jay-Z, Mos Def, Jamie Foxx, and Ludacris contributed to the album, each bringing their own flavor to West’s evolving vision.

With topics such as family, self-consciousness, materialism, racism, and higher education, the album set West apart from his peers. Singles like “Through the Wire,” “Jesus Walks,” and “All Falls Down” received widespread acclaim, with “Slow Jamz” becoming West’s first number-one single as a lead artist.

The College Dropout debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200, selling 441,000 copies in its first week and eventually earning 4x platinum status by the RIAA in 2020.
