Kevin Downswell, Chandler Moore The Only Two Gospel Acts On Apple Music Jamaica

Dancehall and hip-hop albums dominate Jamaica’s music charts, but two gospel albums have found a space amidst the secular sets Jamaica Apple Music Top Albums chart. Ranked at number 53, is Kevin Downswell’s “The Shift (Live).”

The album released June 30, 2023 made its debut a No. 40 last year on Apple Music and features songs like “If Its Not You,” “Grace” and “Prayer.” Downswell released his fourth studio album Grace simultaneously which debuted at No. 86 on the Apple Music Jamaica daily chart on Saturday July 8, 2023 and reached No. 17 in Grenada on Friday July 7, 2023.

Kevin’s Carry Me and Already Done made their one day debut yesterday at #96 and #92 respectively.

At number 63 is Chandler Moore’s “Live in Los Angeles.” Known for his work with Maverick City Music, Moore’s sophomore solo project released August 2 is No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums survey (dated Aug. 17).

Recorded live, in May 2024, “CHANDLER MOORE: LIVE IN LOS ANGELES” showcases Moore’s signature style with a fresh perspective, resonating deeply with his audience and solidifying his influence in the music industry. Moore has collaborated with renowned artists such as Justin Bieber, Tori Kelly, Elevation, and Kirk Franklin. His rapid rise in the music world has earned him 5 Grammy Awards, 1 Billboard Music Award, 4 GMA Dove Awards, and 1 Soul Train Music Award, largely due to his dynamic contributions and collaboration with Maverick City Music. Fans can catch Moore on the Kingdom World Tour from August 8-26 throughout Africa/Europe and the Good News Tour stateside from October 3-November 26.

Meanwhile, at the top of Apple Music Spice holds the top spot for six non-consecutive days with her third studio album “Mirror 25.” Masicka’s “Generation of Kings” maintains its position at No. 2, it is now the second longest running album in the top 10 on Apple Music Jamaica. The Record is held by his own “438” set which has spend more than two years in the top 10.

Billie Eilish’s eclectic and emotionally charged album “HIT ME HARD AND SOFT” climbs one spot, showcasing her continued global influence. BTS member Jimin’s solo project “MUSE” remains a fan favorite, blending K-pop with soulful melodies. Rising three places, Gunna’s latest album “One of Wun” features his signature melodic trap style. Chris Brown’s deluxe album “11:11 (Deluxe)” sees a significant rise, offering fans additional tracks and extended playtime. The dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel continues to captivate listeners with his prolific output, with “First Week Out” holding the seventh spot (peaked at No. 1) and “To Tanesha,” ranked eighth. Govana’s “Legacy” drops slightly but remains in the top ten.
