Jamaican gospel sensation Kevin Downswell is expanding his wings with his latest single, “My Year.” Known for his powerful vocals and heartfelt lyrics, the new inspirational track is both written and produced by Downswell for Downswell Records.
In this new single, Downswell delivers a message of hope, resilience, and faith. With its reggae pop tempo and catchy melody, “My Year” carries an infectious energy that resonates with audiences worldwide, even outside Downswell core gospel audience. The song’s lyrics serve as a reminder to embrace the potential of the present moment, to seize opportunities, and to believe in the promise of brighter days ahead.
“My Year, I recorded it a while back and I wasn’t gonna release this. I recorded it as a video clip and my daughter was going through my phone about two months ago and she played the song. I released in it late February and it started to trend and I am like ok, interesting. So people started asking where they gonna get that song, so I decided to do it in studio and get it done,” Downswell shared with WMV.
With Downswell’s distinct vocal style, coupled with the uplifting live band instrumentation, he sings;
“Woke up this morning with the fire in my bones,
I’ve been waiting for this moment for too long,
No more holding back,
ready to take control.”
