Killer Mike, who clinched three Grammy wins, faced an unexpected turn as he was reportedly arrested shortly after accepting his awards at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The details of the charges remain undisclosed, described only as a misdemeanor, with officials emphasizing it’s unrelated to the Grammy ceremony. Mike secured victories in Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance categories, contributing to his impressive Grammy record. Stay tuned for updates as we seek information from Mike’s representative.

A security official at the arena disclosed to The Hollywood Reporter that Killer Mike’s detention was related to a misdemeanor charge, unrelated to the Grammy Awards, and the Los Angeles Police Department was notified.

Witnesses observed the rapper in handcuffs being escorted into a security room near the VIP entrance of the L.A. arena. Sources downplayed the incident, suggesting it might not be a significant issue, and there were indications of potential release later in the evening.

Harvey Mason Jr., the CEO of the Recording Academy, was observed in discussion with security and Killer Mike’s team for approximately 10 to 20 minutes before heading backstage.

Inquiries by The Hollywood Reporter to Killer Mike’s team yielded no further details, and attempts to reach representatives for the Recording Academy and CBS were made.

Killer Mike’s latest Grammy victories came more than two decades after his first win in 2003. He reflected on his wins at the Peacock Theater pre-show, stating, “For all the people out there that think you get too old to rap, bullshit. I don’t give a damn if you’re 78 rapping about how many gals you got in the nursing home, make sure we keep hip-hop alive.”

Hosted by Trevor Noah, the 66th annual Grammy Awards aired live from Los Angeles on CBS, with the ceremony also available for streaming on Paramount+. The complete list of winners can be found on the night’s event.
