The title “Shabba Madda Pot,” translates to “Shabba’s Mother’s Pot” which is a song contemplating murder and the allegoric chorus is a tribute to Constance Christie, affectionately known as Mama Christie, the late mother of iconic dancehall artist Shabba Ranks.

She was a beloved figure in her community of Seaview Gardens, serving as a mother figure to many and renowned for her culinary skills. Her kitchen, symbolized by the phrase “Shabba Madda Pot” in Dexta Daps’ viral hit song, holds a special place in the hearts of locals. Mama Christie’s generosity extends beyond her own family, as she’s known for feeding countless individuals in her community.
