In a striking musical partnership, Jamaican sensation Lila Ike and Grammy-winning artist H.E.R. have unveiled their latest collaboration, “He Loves Us Both.” The song, which explores the complex emotions surrounding two women who find themselves in love with the same man, delves into themes of love, betrayal, and the difficult choices that follow.
Since its release on May 16, the track has debuted at #120 in The Netherlands, #168 in Belgium, and #29 in Jamaica on Deezer. These initial chart positions reflect the song’s growing popularity and the strong fan bases both artists command.
Lila Ike opens the track with her soulful voice capturing the raw, conflicting emotions of knowing and yet choosing to stay in a complicated relationship: “He loves us both I know, yes this sounds strange for sure but don’t be quick to judge so that’s just the thing about love / you can’t choose what you feel but you know if it is real / I knew exactly what I felt / I didn’t want to lose a good thing just because / I really want it to be good for what it’s worth.”
H.E.R. offers a powerful counterpoint deepening the narrative, singing: “Your man I love the most / was just holding you close / I don’t care how you feel / we both grown so keep it real / I wasn’t even that pressed and you just keep lying to yourself / I knew exactly what he felt for you.”
The accompanying music video, directed by the acclaimed Child, has surpassed 50,000 views on YouTube after 24 hours. The visuals depict sultry and intimate scenes between the artists and their shared love interest, culminating in a powerful confrontation where they exchange stories about their experiences with him. Their closing lines express mutual understanding and resignation as they go back and forth with each line: “I know you probably judging what I did / I know you probably hoping I forgive / he don’t make it easy to walk away / I know because he make me feel the same.”
“He Loves Us Both” is from Lila Iké’s debut album set for release this year on RCA Records.
