Live & Dangerous: Boston 1976 By Peter Tosh Has Re-Entered The Billboard Reggae Chart

Live and Dangerous: Boston 1976, the album recorded on Peter Tosh’s first American tour as a solo act as re-entered the Billboard Reggae albums chart. The album peaks at No. 4 this week and spends a total of three weeks since it first made an appearance in the week of August 25, 2001.

The album captured the energy and raw power of Peter Tosh’s live set as reggae music was gaining popularity in the US after the released of the 1972 movie The Harder They Come by Jimmy Cliff.

Guitarist Al Anderson and Donald Kinsey formed part of the live arrangements on the album which had infused rock influences into Tosh’s signature reggae sound. Sly Dunbar and Robbie were the rhythm section rulers while Earl Lindo’s keyboard skills added to the full-bodied sound.

One of the notable songs in the set is a rare performance of “Stop That Train,” a song that was originally  written for Bob Marley and the Wailers.

New entries on the Billboard Reggae albums chart this week come from Ziggy Stardub Easy Star All-Stars’ David Bowie tribute album debuting at No. 9. Their first tribute album since 2012 with guest performances by Macy Gray, Steel Pulse, Fishbone, Alex Lifeson (Rush), Vernon Reid (Living Colour), The Skints, Mortimer, The Expanders, Samory I, Naomi Cowan, and many more.

The Upsetter At The Starhouse Sessions by The Orb Featuring Lee Scratch Perry also debuts at No. 10 this week however leading the chart for a record 172 non-non-concecutive weeks is Legend: The Best Of Bob Marley & The Wailer. Best Of Shaggy: Boombastic Collection at No. 2 after 213 weeks on the chart. Dutty Classics by Sean Paul return to the No. 3 spot (peak No. 2). UB40’s Greatest Hits slips down one spot to No. 5. Stick Figure’s World On Fire. Wisdom and Set In Stone at No. 6, 7 and 8 respectively.
