Kingston, Jamaica – Livewire, powered by Appleton Estate, returns on Thursday, October 2 for its 5th staging at Usain Bolt’s Tracks and Records, promising another high-energy night of dancehall and live performance.
Headlining is fast-rising dancehall star Armanii, who will be joined by Nhance and 10Tik in what organizers call one of the event’s strongest lineups yet. The bimonthly series, staged inside the Marketplace in Kingston, has already hosted Valiant, Bugle, Jahshii, Bayka, and Agent Sasco, cementing its place as a staple on Jamaica’s entertainment calendar.
“Livewire is no longer just an event; it’s now a staple on the entertainment calendar,” said Carlton Davy of Yung Kingz Entertainment. “In just five stagings, we’ve had some of the biggest names in dancehall grace the stage, and we’re only getting started.”
Why Live Music Still Matters
In conversation with WMV, Davy explained why Livewire’s commitment to live bands resonates despite the rise of trap dancehall.
“People still love that authenticity that comes with dancehall music. The 90s era was so strong that fans continue to want to hear that real beat and sound. Trap dancehall is growing, but it doesn’t yet have the same potency to dominate live spaces. And when you look at performance, a lot of the new trap-inspired artists don’t always bring that same live band energy.”
Davy pointed out that performers like Armanii, 10Tik, and Nhance are bridging the gap. “Tentik reminds me of a young Masicka with his acoustic-style performances, while Armanii brings his own edge. It’s that balance of raw lyrics and live artistry that keeps the crowd engaged.”
The Experience & What’s Next
Appleton Estate, which powers the event, views Livewire as a celebration of Jamaican excellence. “Our partnership with Livewire is a natural fit, reflecting our commitment to platforms that curate memorable experiences,” said Dominic Bell, Communications Manager at Appleton Estate.
The venue, Usain Bolt’s Tracks and Records, has been central to Livewire’s energy. “Tracks and Records has always championed both emerging and established talent,” said Petegay Gentles, Marketing Manager. “We’re proud to be the home of Livewire and to offer a space where artists can connect with fans in a truly intimate, high-energy setting.”
Looking ahead, Davy teased what’s next: the November edition will feature Governor, keeping the brand’s momentum alive through the end of the year, with plans for Miami and New York expansions in the future.
With the Ruff Kutt Band and Di Unit Sound System powering the sound, Livewire’s 5th edition promises to deliver an unforgettable showcase of dancehall’s present and future.
