A day after a video circulated on social media with reggae singer Luciano blasting VP Records and Attorney Lloyd Stanbury for facilitating the signing of a 2001 contract without him reading it, the “Messenger” singer has issued an apology. In a one minute and thirty seconds video sent to WMV by Attorney Lloyd Stanbury on Thursday, Luciano is seen looking into the camera wearing his usual beaded chain and brown suit with top hat saying:
“Greetings and salutations to all my fans out there, members of the music fraternity and the reggae industry. You may have seen a video recently where I am burning out Mr. Stanbury, calling him a wicked and that lightening should lick him and all these things. He has explained to me that he had not acted in the capacity as VP’s lawyer, neither was he representing me legally and he was not the one who constructed that contract. He was only facilitating the singing of the contract at his office.”
WMV first reported yesterday that Stanbury had demanded an apology from the Lord Give Me Strength artist who went on a rant during an interview about his regrets in the music industry. Today, a more humble Luciano appears on video as he said he spoke with Stanbury. While he is still confused on the series on events, he unequivocally apologized.
“So I stand corrected Mr. Stanbury and I apologize greatly sir, please accept my humble apology,” the two time Grammy nominee said.
He addressed his fans in the video asking them to “bear with him.”
“All my fans out there please bear with me as I try to understand what took place. I had intention to do one album for VP and I ended up binding myself in a four album deal,” he said.
He ended the video by reinforcing his apology and declaring his respect.
“Mr Lloyd Stanbury I publicly apologize to you sir, hope you accept my humble apology, God bless, nuff respect every time. Form Jah messenger Luciano,” he said.
He has not issued an apology to VP Records. Stanbury told WMV that he accepted Luciano’s apology upon receipt of the video and that will be the end of the matter.
Luciano’s latest project is a remix album in partnership with Island Records titled “Return Of The Chronicles” released last year. The 11 track set features updated mixes previously released tracks from the Where There Is Life and Messenger albums.
