The Queen of Pop opens up about Kabbalah, human rights, and her upcoming return to Warner Records
Madonna has revealed just how deeply her spiritual journey has shaped her life and career. In a new episode of Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, the 67-year-old icon reflected on embracing the Jewish mystical practice of Kabbalah, which she first adopted in 1996, and how it continues to guide her purpose.
“You need to be spiritual to be successful,” Madonna said. “Success is having a spiritual life, period. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t have one.”
The Queen of Pop explained that her beliefs have fueled her outspokenness on human rights. “What have I done for others? That’s really the only way you can be successful in life,” she said. “The greatest amount of light is where there’s darkness, and you can reveal the most amount of light.”
Madonna added that her “soul’s purpose is to reveal light in the world” and that her drive for success comes not from keeping achievements to herself but from sharing them. Later in the interview, she was joined by her longtime Kabbalah teacher, Eitan Yardeni, with whom she recently launched The Mystical Studies of the Zohar, a new course dedicated to spiritual wisdom.
“Spiritual wisdom is not helpful when everything’s going your way,” Madonna reflected. “It’s helpful when you’re challenged. Radical acceptance is just accepting that what is happening to you is meant to happen to you — and that you’re going to be okay.”
The candid conversation arrives as Madonna prepares a major musical return. Earlier this month, she announced that she is re-signing with Warner Records, the label behind her landmark albums American Life (2003), Confessions on a Dance Floor (2005), and Hard Candy (2008).
“It feels like home with Warner Records,” she shared on Instagram. “Back to music, back to the dance floor, back to where it all began!
”Madonna attended Vybz Kartel’s sold-out O2 Arena show in London on September 4, 2025, alongside her Jamaican partner, Akeem Morris. She shared clips from the historic concert with her 20+ million Instagram followers.
Her upcoming dance project, COADF – Pt. 2, is scheduled for release in 2026, promising to continue the legacy of one of pop’s most groundbreaking figures.
