Master P Says NFL Should Honor The South By Including Lil Wayne On Super Bowl 2025 Halftime Show

Legendary New Orleans rapper Master P is adding his voice to the social media backlash being faced by Jay-Z, Roc Nation and the NFL for announcing Los Angeles rapper Kendrick Lamar as the headliner for Super Bowl 2025 Half-time Show.

The Miss My Homies rapper expressed his admiration for Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming performance at the Super Bowl LIX halftime show which was announced on Sunday by saying, “Salute to @kendricklamar for performing at the halftime show at Super Bowl LIX… well deserved, he’s one of the hottest music artists in the world and has one of the biggest songs right now.”

He however took issue that they would overlook Lil Wayne, as the Ambassador of Entertainment for the City of New Orleans. He passionately stated, “As Ambassador of Entertainment in the City of New Orleans, I have to agree with the fans that @liltunechi #LilWayne should be a part of this celebration as well. He’s one of the greatest Hip Hop artists alive, still relevant, and he’s a New Orleans native.”

P, born Percy Miller further stressed the importance of honoring legends while they are still here. “Life is too short! We have to give our legends their flowers while they are here,” he urged, calling attention to the significance of recognizing Lil Wayne’s contributions to the culture.

His post ended on a positive note with a call for change: “#Godisgood Change starts with us,” Master P reminded, tagging the NFL, Jay-Z, and New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell to ensure that Lil Wayne receives the acknowledgment he deserves at this momentous event at the Super Bowl 2025 Halftime Show.

Several person online have also chimed into the decision like DJ Akademiks who professed, “That thought of not like us ringing off at the superbowl wit the new Kendrick album dropping around that time n doing like 700k is devastating . All good for Kendrick… but damn. This lil leprechaun really got the Hall of Fame Madden 2025 plays of death.”

AK then went on to deliver a morning rant on X against Kendrick and Jay-Z, the head of Roc Nation saying the latter is a “Legendary hater. “The Super Bowl in New Orleans and they let Kendrick Lamar perform over Lil Wayne…. Jay Z a legendary hater for that.”

Lil Wayne’s manager Fabian Marasciullo also expressed anger and confusion on Sunday playing Lil Wayne and Drake’s “Right Above It” in his Instagram Story with the written words, “Consumed, disappointed, angry but most of all inspired.” Adding, “Will never again be in the position or have the goat be in the position where we are at the mercy of someone else’s decision. We will make the decisions.”

On Sunday Roc nation also trended #1 on twitter with several memes taking shots at the full service music company which is pat owned by Live Nation. One person posted out that, “Yall definitely had NOTHING to say when Beyonce performed in 2013 in NEW ORLEANS for the Super Bowl ? I didn’t see no Lil Wayne , Hot Boy , Cash Money , Young Money, Old Money, New Money tweets . Now all of a sudden , it’s so much outrage . I’m confused.”

Another person replied, “The key difference is that Jay-Z/Roc Nation took over the Halftime Show in 2019. So, anything before wasn’t as surprising. Given Jay’s awareness of Wayne’s influence, it feels like Wayne may have been overlooked this time—not to discredit Kendrick at all.”
