Bishop T.D. Jakes Receives Medical Attention After Health Incident During Service
Dallas, TX – November 24, 2024 – During today’s service at The Potter’s House of Dallas, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a brief health incident following his impactful hour-long sermon.
Video of the incident was share on social media as Bishop Jakes delivered a message, in an unusually dressed down fashion, he closed with a heartfelt declaration: “Let the meditation of my heart be accepted in Thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer, let Him go in peace.” Sitting on a stool, he then appeared to experience a health-related issue, prompting immediate assistance from members of the congregation with someone saying “back up back up.”
The church responded swiftly as the entire congregation extended their hands in prayer. The service was then briefly interrupted, with a “Thank You” message displayed on the screen.
The Potter’s House family issued a statement confirming that Bishop Jakes is stable and receiving medical care. The family expressed their deep gratitude for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from both the congregation and the broader community.

A prominent leader in both religious and cultural communities globally, Bishop Jakes is an American non-denominational Christian pastor, author, and filmmaker. Born on June 9, 1957, in South Charleston, West Virginia, Jakes is the founder and senior pastor of The Potter’s House, a megachurch in Dallas, Texas, with a congregation of over 30,000 members.
He began ministry in 1982 when he became the pastor of a small church in West Virginia. He later founded The Potter’s House in 1996, which quickly grew into a prominent place of worship. In addition to his pastoral work, Jakes has authored numerous books, produced films, and launched a secular talk show in 2015.
