Billboard has appointed Mike Van as its first-ever CEO, in the publication’s 125-year history. Van, who previously served as president since 2022, will now lead Billboard’s global brand across 15 countries. His responsibilities span strategy, business operations, editorial oversight, live events, licensing, and brand partnerships.
Under his leadership, Billboard has seen double-digit revenue growth, expanded international reach, and bolstered its digital and live event presence with standout programs like Latin Music Week and the Billboard Music Awards.
Van shared on Instagram that it’s a “honor of a lifetime to lead Billboard.”
Van will report directly to Penske Media Corporation’s CEO, Jay Penske, who praised Van as a “visionary” with a transformative impact on the brand. Van expressed pride in continuing Billboard’s legacy and reaffirmed the brand’s role as the “definitive voice of music business and culture.”
Van brings over 25 years of experience from companies like Pandora, Electronic Arts, and Complex, solidifying his place as a key figure in the intersection of media, music, and technology.
