Ahead of this week’s announced rollout of a song added to the already packed 22 track ‘Pink Friday 2’ album everyday until Friday, the Queen of Hip Hop Nicki Minaj is having a Barbieparty at Gagcity. She made the announcement late Sunday evening saying, “Ok guys, I’ll be on station head in about 20 mins for my 1st official #BarbieParty in #GagCity We’ll wear pink. I’ll post the link shortly. Drinks: I got dark, white, & rosé Smoke: I got indica, sativa, & hybrid Tell everyone. #PinkFriday2.”
Up to press time it is not clear who will be at the #BarbieParty, but fans can expect songs with Monica and Keisha Cole, 50 Cent and Future to be added to the album this week.
#NickiHenrix is also a buzzing hashtag on X (formerly Twitter) as fans Nicki Minaj vote ‘Nicki Hendrix’ featuring Future as their favorite track on Minaj’s fifth studio album ‘Pink Friday 2.’
Not to be confused with Nick Hendrix the English actor, the song produced by B Ham and Vincent ‘Life’ Shaw has already surpasses 1.4 million streams on Spotify and just under 500,000 views YouTube after two-days of its release.
Future has the first version the song singing,
“Feeling destructive
Leads to destruction
Pray I get through
Just to build it up again
Love’s up again
Forever lovin’
Break it down
To build it up again”
Minaj then comes in 1 minute and 50 seconds into the song singing,
Don’t you walk away from me
How you let me-e-e walk away from you-ooh?
Baby, did you think there were a million me’s?
I guess I underestimated you-ooh too
Well, sorta
I thought you were smarter
This pussy taste like water
I would’ve had your daughter, had your empire in order
Now you ain’t even a starter
I’m Ewing in the fourth quarter
On Saturday Nicki asked her Barbs on Twitter to use the hashtags #PinkFriday2 and #GAGCityTOP5 to comment which songs are at the top of their favorites list.
Several fans listed the smooth Hip Hop/R&B ballad which is about relationships and the complexities of romance in at the top of the five favorites.
One person said, “Nicki Hendricks is growing on me..”
Another Barb said, “Nicki Hendricks is such a good song I can’t.”
Future and Nicki go way back and the two are among an elite group of rappers that have dropped a RIAA certified Platinum hit in 10 or more different years. The Cash Money Records artist is the only female with that accolade. The others to have reached the milestone are Kanye, Jay-Z, Drake, Lil Wayne and Eminem.
Both Future and Nicki are also on the list of most streamed rappers on Spotify with 33.1 billion and 32.3 billion streams respectively across their catalog.
