The Cheerleader hitmaker is back — and he’s starting 2026 exactly how you’d want a Caribbean pop superstar to: loud, bright, and built for movement.

International superstar OMI launches the new year with his first single of 2026, “S.O.B (Standing On Business)”, arriving January 23, 2026. The track marks the beginning of what’s shaping up to be a nonstop year of new music, with more releases already on deck.

A slick twist on ska and reggae — but polished with modern pop muscle — “S.O.B” is a vibrant, feel-good record that taps into the DNA of OMI’s sound while leveling it up. Packed with live instrumentation, infectious bounce, and a hook that hits instantly, the song feels like a street party and a radio smash at the same time.

“This project is all about celebrating where I come from musically, while pushing the sound forward. I grew up on reggae and ska, that heartbeat rhythm, that joyful energy, and I wanted to blend that with the pop sensibilities my fans already know me for. It’s a fresh take, but it still feels like home.”

According to OMI, the track came together naturally during a late-session spark — the kind of moment artists live for, when the room clicks and the chorus practically writes itself. With lines flying, fingers snapping, and everyone locked into the rhythm, “S.O.B” became a full-on ska-pop fusion in real time.

“SOB is one of those songs that we enjoyed creating. It was towards the end of recording session we started just dropping lines, snapping fingers and then we knew we were onto something. It was like fusion of Ska and Pop. For my upcoming album we know we want to put out mostly ‘feel good music’. I wanted to push the boundaries and go back in time and pull on some of those 50s and 60s sounds. It reminded me of when we created Cheerleader with the horns and arrangement. SOB has that catchy hook, I knew we were onto something when everyone was signing along and dapping up to Standing on business. I think my fans will enjoy this track …..I reallly hope they do.”

OMI’s ability to turn joyful island energy into worldwide pop culture is already proven. His breakout global anthem “Cheerleader” has now surpassed 2 billion streams on Spotify, officially placing him in the platform’s Billions Club — and his momentum hasn’t slowed. In 2025, he reached over 11 million monthly listeners worldwide, cementing his status as a global mainstay.

“S.O.B (Standing On Business)” drops January 23, 2026 — and it’s only the beginning.
