AWGE/Interscope rapper Playboi Carti lands at #1 with a bang on this week’s Billboard 200 albums chart, racking up a stunning 302k, 10280 of which are pure album sales. It’s Carti’s biggest bow yet by a considerable margin. Interscope Records owns the top three spots on the chart, thanks to Lady Gaga’s Mayhem (#2) and Kendrick Lamar’s GNX(#3).
PARTYNEXTDOOR/Drake (Republic/OVO/Santa Anna) and TDE/RCA’s SZA round out the Top 5 with the albums $$$4U and SOS.
Carti retains the #1 and #3 positions on the Spotify U.S. Top 50 with “Evil Jordan” and “Rather Lie” featuring The Weeknd. The former sits in the global Top 10, a rarity for a rapper. He also has four songs in the Apple Music Top 10.
This isn’t Carti’s first time at the top. His previous album, Whole Lotta Red, also debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, making MUSIC his second consecutive No. 1. His previous projects Die Lit and Playboi Carti peaked at #3 and #12, respectively.
Meanwhile, Source Music’s K-pop group LE SSERAFIM secured the week’s second-biggest debut with their six-song EP landing at #9 with 43k+ units. Other notable debuts include indie rockers Coheed and Cambria at #24 and Eslabon Armado at #26.
Additionally, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s collaborative effort I Said I Love You First arrives as one of the week’s most anticipated releases under SMG Music/Friends Keep Secrets/Interscope.
With MUSIC setting new records, Playboi Carti continues to redefine hip-hop’s landscape, proving that his unconventional style and sonic experimentation resonate deeply with fans worldwide. As his star power grows, the question remains—how much further can Carti push the boundaries of rap?
