Popcaan has become the most recent Jamaican recording artist to have both a song debut on the Billboard Hot 100 and an album debut on the Billboard 200.

The distinction brings together two milestones achieved six years apart: his 2020 Billboard 200 appearance with Fixtape and his long-awaited first Hot 100 entry in 2026 with the Drake collaboration “Amazing Shape.”

The latter arrived on the Billboard Hot 100 dated May 30, 2026, debuting at No. 76 and giving Popcaan his first career appearance on Billboard’s flagship U.S. singles chart.

“Amazing Shape” finally puts Popcaan on the Hot 100

“Amazing Shape,” a collaboration between Popcaan and Drake, appeared on Drake’s Maid of Honour project. The song was part of a massive week for Drake on the U.S. charts.

The record also contains elements of Jamaican dancehall history, incorporating elements of Beenie Man’s “Who Am I (Sim Simma).”

Popcaan had come close to the Hot 100 before. His catalogue includes appearances on several other Billboard rankings, while his 2020 Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR collaboration “Twist & Turn” reached Billboard’s Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart. “Amazing Shape,” however, was the song that finally placed his name on the Hot 100 itself.

His Billboard 200 story started years earlier

His 2018 album Forever reached No. 171 on the Billboard 200, while Fixtape went considerably higher two years later, entering at No. 94 in August 2020. Fixtape spent one week on the chart.

The Hot 100 and Billboard 200 are Billboard’s broad U.S. all-genre rankings, rather than genre-specific reggae or dancehall charts.
