YG Marley’s “Praise Jah In The Moonlight” Debuts at No. 3 On Billboard New Zealand Songs

YG Marley’s breakout single “Praise Jah In The Moonlight” debuts at No. 3 on the Billboard New Zealand Songs chart for the week ending January 20, 2024. He draws for the collaborative legacy of his best selling mother and Grandfather as the song interpolates Bob Marley‘s 1978 single ‘Crisis” from Marley’s 10th studio album Kaya, and is co-written by Ms. Lauryn Hill.

The latter tripling up as co-producer and Creative Coordinator, with additional support from Joshua Boumel and Suzette Williams in the consulting capacity. Samuel Demey serves as the Assistant Coordinator of the project.

A ranking of the top songs in New Zealand is based on streaming and sales activity from within the country- as tracked by Luminate. The ranking is based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of leading audio and video music services, plus download sales from top music retailers within the territory.

The third generation Marley also earn his first No. 1 on Spotify USA Viral 50 chart with “Praise Jah In The Moonlight” as well as No. 1 on Spotify Viral Global.

Elsewhere, the song is No. 28 in Trinidad on Apple Music.

Meanwhile on this week’s Billboard Reggae albums chart, Legend The Best Of Bob Marley and The Wailers sits at the top for 208 non-consecutive weeks. Followed by Best Of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection by Shaggy. Sean Paul has Dutty Classics Colletion and Dutty Rock at No. 3 and 4, UB40’s Greatest Hits at No. 5.

Stick Figure’s World On Fire, Set In Stone and Wisdom and No. 6,7 and 8 respectively. Masicka’s Generation Of Kings slips to No. 9 and Byron Messia’s Talibans rounds out the top ten, spending 29 weeks on the chart.
