American singer Romeo Santos’ chart-topping hit, “Propuesta Indecente” (“Indecent Proposal”) has been certified 65x Latin Platinum. The bachata song released on July 30, 2013, was issued the certification by the Recording Industry Association Of America for streams and sales equivalent units surpassing 3,900,000 in the U.S. on January 16, 2024.
The track which fused Dominican bachata and Argentinean tango spawns from his second studio album, “Formula, Vol. 2” which was certified 31x Platino (Latin Platinum) for selling 1.86 million on January 16, 2024.
The album released on February 25, 2014, by Sony Music Latin, also has the single and “Odio” featuring Drake which dominated the Hot Latin Songs charts for seventeen non-consecutive weeks, maintaining a top-five position for an impressive 98 out of 100 weeks.
The album peaked at one status in various countries, reaching fifth place in the U.S. It features other collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Marc Anthony, and Tego Calderón.
To promote the album, Santos embarked on the Formula, Vol. 2 Tour, starting in Monterrey on March 7, 2014, and concluding in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on August 27, 2016.
“Fórmula, Vol. 2” debuted at number 5 on the US Billboard 200, selling 85,000 copies in its first week and earning the title of the fastest-selling Latin Album in six years.

With Mexican entertainer Eiza González as the star for the visuals, the video earned the prestigious Lo Nuestro Award for Video of the Year at the 26th Lo Nuestro Awards.
“Propuesta Indecente” released by Sony Music Latin peaked number one on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs and Latin Ariplay charts as well as No. 79 on the Billboard Hot 100 the week of September 9, 2013 and stay on the chart for 7 weeks. It also topped Colombia, Mexico, Spain, and Venezuela.
In subsequent years after tis released, “Propuesta Indecente” continued to make waves on the charts, solidifying its status as one of the best-performing Latin songs of all time. As of 2021, Billboard ranked it the second best Hot Latin Song of all time trailing only behind the record-breaking hit “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee Featuring Justin Bieber.
Elsewhere the song is certified platinum in Italy (50,000 units), 3x Platinum in Spain (120,000 units), Gold in Brazil (30,000) and 2x Diamond in Mexico (600,000).
