R. City’s “Locked Away” Ft. Adam Levine Surpasses 1 Billion Views On YouTube

Virgin Islands production duo R. City’s hit “Locked Away” featuring Maroon 5’s lead singer, Adam Levine, achieved a milestone 1 billion views on YouTube on Fridays November 25, 2023

The Gil Green directed music video released on August 14, 2015, two months after the single’s June 29, release date.

The track was R. City’s first top ten hit and Levine’s first single that he did not co-write.

The dancehall and reggae pop song’s chorus features an interpolation of “Do That To Me One More Time” by Captain & Tennille.

The official remix, titled “Locked Away Again (The Remix),” features a verse from Young Money rapper Lil Wayne.

“Locked Away” charted in 46 countries hitting peak positions at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 2 on the U.K. Official Charts and the Canadian Hot 100.

The global hit dancehall song is Certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association Of America for selling one million units in the US. 3x Platinum in Australia(210,000), and Platinum the United Kingdom (60,000).

It is Gold in Austria for 15,000 units, Platinum in Belgium with 20,000 units. In Canada (Music Canada), it secured 2× Platinum for streams and sales of 160,000 units, while Denmark (IFPI Danmark) awarded it 2× Platinum for 180,000 units. In Germany it is recognized with Platinum status for 400,000 units, and in Italy (FIMI), the album earned an impressive 4× Platinum with 200,000 units.

In Mexico it’s granted 3× Platinum for 180,000 units, New Zealand -Platinum for (15,000 ), Norway Platinum for 40,000 units, Poland it is 4× Platinum (80,000). Spain acknowledged Platinum status for 40,000 units, while Sweden (GLF) granted 3× Platinum for 120,000 units.
