California reggae band Rebelution continues to break ground in the genre, as the title track from their fourth studio album Count Me In has officially been certified Gold in the United States.
According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the song has surpassed 500,000 units in combined sales and streaming.
It is the first reggae single to be certified Gold in the U.S. in 2025.
Released on June 10, 2014, Count Me In has surpassed 65 million streams on Spotify,
Distributed through their own 87 Music imprint in partnership with New York-based Easy Star Records, the album from which song came sold 17,201 copies in its first week, entering the Billboard 200 at No. 14 and topping the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. The title track, serviced to Alternative and Adult Album Alternative (AAA) radio formats as the project’s lead single, quickly became a fan favorite and a mainstay in the band’s live shows.
The album’s critical and commercial success further cemented Rebelution’s reputation as one of the most successful American reggae bands of the past two decades. Produced by the band and mixed by Jamaican-born engineer Errol Brown—famed for his work with Bob Marley and the Wailers—the album successfully captured the group’s signature fusion of roots reggae, alt-rock, dub, blues, and pop.
Speaking to Billboard at the time of release, frontman Eric Rachmany noted, “The hardest part is getting your live sound on record, but I definitely feel we did that with this album.”
The Count Me In era also included a standout collaboration with legendary Jamaican vocalist Don Carlos on the track “Roots Reggae Music,” paying homage to the foundational artists who influenced Rebelution’s sound.
