On March 1, 2024, “Fade Away” by Rebelution, from their 2014 album “Count Me In,” is now certified Gold in the U.S. for selling 500,000 units by the Recording Industry Association Of America. The song which is a differs from the California reggae band’s usually up-beat tracks explores themes of impermanence and appreciation for nature in a slow paced cut.
The song released March 24, 2014 via MRI Records is sung by the group’s lead vocalist Eric Rachmany who pays tribute to Mother Earth and contemplates the meaning of existence, finding solace in staying calm amidst life’s uncertainties. The track’s gentle instrumentation and introspective lyrics encourage listeners to embrace the present moment and find peace in the face of life’s inevitable changes.
This is the band’s first Gold certification in the U.S. and it comes three years after their catalog was acquired in 2021 by Round Hill Music Royalty Fund Limited. Round Hill owns Rebelution’s master recordings and music publishing assets, which was company’s entry into the reggae genre.
The catalogue’s revenue mix comprises streaming, publishing, neighbouring rights, and other sources, with a significant portion originating from the US market. “Fade Away”, is among the band’s top songs ranked by revenue along with “Feeling Alright”, “Safe And Sound”, “Free Rein” and “Count Me In”.
Financial details of the acquisition remain undisclosed due to commercial sensitivities, but the company plans to provide further disclosure after completing its investment.
