REMA In Top 10 As UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and North Africa Get New Official Charts

On Wednesday September 27, 2023, the IFPI, representing the global recording industry, unveiled four new music charts, offering music enthusiasts, record labels, and artists official rankings for the top-streamed tracks in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

These new charts complement the existing Official MENA regional chart and consist of the Official Egypt Chart, Official Saudi Arabia Chart, Official UAE Chart, and Official North Africa Chart, encompassing Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia. These rankings are the first of their kind in each respective country.

IFPI will release these four market-specific charts weekly on Wednesdays, while the Official MENA Chart will continue to be published every Tuesday. These charts will be accessible on the Official MENA Chart website and shared via its social media channels, along with weekly insights.

These charts are based on IFPI’s renowned methodology and incorporate music streaming data from major digital streaming platforms in the region, including Anghami, Apple Music, Deezer, Spotify, and YouTube. The charts are compiled by BMAT.

World Music Views will be covering highlights from these charts weekly as we expand our music reach across the globe.

The launch of these four new charts builds upon the success of the inaugural MENA regional chart introduced in November 2022, which collected data from 13 markets, covering a population of over 300 million. This expansion underscores the region’s remarkable growth, with recorded music revenues rising by 23.8% in 2022 (source: IFPI Global Music Report 2023).

Frances Moore, CEO of IFPI, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion of the Official MENA Chart, allowing the recognition of top hits in Egypt, North Africa, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. She highlighted the uniqueness of each country’s musical heritage and celebrated the MENA region’s flourishing music scene, supported by the diverse talent and investments from record labels.
