Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ Certified Diamond In Brazil

Rema’s global smash hit Calm Down is now certified Diamond in Brazil, the biggest country in Latin America. The award was issued by Pro-Música Brasil (PMB) for sale sand streams surpassing 160,000 units.

Sales certification in Brazil takes into account all consumption formats, including physical sales, digital downloads, and audio and video streaming accesses.

Calm Down is written by Rema real name Divine Ikubor, Andre Vibez, and Michael Hunter and produced by Andre Vibez and London. It was released as the second single from the Nigerian star’s debut album Raves & Roses on 11 February 2022 via Mavin, Jonzing World and Interscope Records. The remix with Selena Gomez was released August 25, 2022

The song spent a full year at No. 1 on the Billboard Afrobeats chart (58 weeks total) and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard hot 100.

In the UK it spend 27 consecutive weeks in the top ten on the Official Singles Chart peaking at No. 3. Globally Calm Down was the second best selling song of 2022 according to the IFPI and made the Guinness Book Of World Records as the first song to hit No. 1 on the on the MENA (Middle East and North Africa Chart), launched by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry in November 29, 2022.

Other certifications for Calm Down include: Gold in Austria, with certified units/sales amounting to 15,000. In Belgium, it went 2× Platinum with 80,000 certified units. Denmark recognized it with a Platinum certification, representing 90,000 units. In France, it earned a Diamond certification with 333,333 units. Germany awarded it Platinum status with 600,000 units. Italy certified the song 3× Platinum with 300,000 units.

The Netherlands awarded it Gold status with 40,000 units. In Nigeria, the song went 2× Platinum with 200,000 units. Poland certified it Diamond with 250,000 units. Portugal recognized the song with 7× Platinum status, representing 70,000 units. Spain awarded it 3× Platinum with 180,000 units. In Switzerland, it achieved 4× Platinum status with 80,000 units.

The United Kingdom certified it 2× Platinum with 1,200,000 units. Finally, in the United States, the song went 4× Platinum with certified units/sales reaching 4,000,000. For streaming alone, Greece awarded it Gold status with 1,000,000 streams.

The remix version of “Calm Down” also received significant certifications. In Australia, it achieved 8× Platinum status with 560,000 certified units. Canada awarded it Diamond certification with 800,000 units. New Zealand recognized the remix with 2× Platinum status, representing 60,000 units. For streaming, Greece awarded the remix Platinum status with 2,000,000 streams.

Rema’s bouncy hip hop freestyle track Fame- A Colors Encore was also certified Gold in Brazil for selling 30,000 units.
