Achieving Diamond® status by the Recording Industry Association Of America (RIAA) is one of the most prestigious awards for any artist to achieve. The RIAA also certifies Latin albums. Diamante certified Latin albums require sales or stream equivalents of 1 million and counting for Latin albums certified before December 2013 and 600,000 and counting for Latin albums certified after December 2013.
For the Diamond® award albums should have sold 10 million units and counting in the United States territory. There are 117 certified Diamante and Diamond® albums in total up to June 21, 2023.
Garth Brooks has 9 RIAA Diamond® album certifications, the most for any artist. While the Beatles has six and Led Zeppelin has 5. Shania Twain, The Eagles and Whitney Houston all have three each. The Eagles Greatest Hits (1971-1975) released by Rhino is the most commercially successful album in the U.S. with sales surpassing 38 million units.
