Rihanna Ready to “Do It Up” for the Holidays: “Christmas is a Very Big Thing for Us”

While Mariah Carey thinks it’s not yet time to roll out promotions for her annual Christmas hit “All I Want For Christmas,” music superstar Rihana is ready.

The global superstar Rihanna is preparing to embrace her role as a mother and create new family traditions as the festive holiday season approaches. Speaking about her plans, to E! News during Savage X Fenty’s exclusive Nordstrom preview celebrating the debut of the Lavish Lace collection Oct. 10, the singer shared how she’s looking forward to the festive months ahead, especially with her growing family.

“Spooky season, that’s up front,” Rihanna says, referring to Halloween. “Next is Thanksgiving with my in-laws, ‘cause that’s not a thing in Barbados, and then Christmas is a very big thing for us, so we gonna do it up.” For the singer, the holidays are an exciting time to build rituals for her family, mixing both her Barbadian roots and newfound traditions in her current home.

The Work hitmaker revealed that motherhood has inspired her to take on even more adventurous activities with her kids. “I have children, I built up the nerve to do trick or treating at strangers’ houses,” she laughed, opening up about how she plans to fully immerse herself in Halloween traditions.

When asked if she would be knocking on doors herself, she enthusiastically responded, “I am doing the whole thing, and I am actually going to bake cookies, ghost cookies. If I get through that, I feel like I won for October.”

Motherhood has also turned the multi-hyphenate artist into a proud homemaker. Rihanna, who welcomed her second child 14 months ago, spoke candidly about how much she cherishes her time at home. “Just being a homebody, I love being a homemaker. I have a lot of women in my home right now, and I just like to be exciting and celebrate things,” she said. “I am trying to build new traditions for our little family that we built.”

But the holidays aren’t the only thing on Rihanna’s radar. The fashion mogul also revealed that she’s gearing up for the highly anticipated 2024 Met Gala. “I never plan this far in advance, but I am geared up for this one. This one feels very exciting, very special. It’s an honor to be a part of this one just by being there.”

With her successful career, a growing family, and a love for creating memories at home, Rihanna is showing the world yet again how she seamlessly blends her personal and professional life. This holiday season promises to be full of fun, family, and maybe even a batch of ghost-shaped cookies.
