Billboard Chart topping superstar Rihanna regrets posing naked during her rebellious 20s. The mother of two told British Vogue Magazine that her biggest fashion ick was revealing too much. “I’ve experimented a lot in my life. I’ve bared my nipples, my underwear. But now, as a mother and a mature young woman – emphasis on young – there are things I feel I wouldn’t do again. Like, ‘Did I really do that? Nipples out?'”
Rihanna regrets aside, on Wednesday night at the launch event for Fenty X Puma’s latest release in London, she obliged the British press with interviews. “I love creating music in London,” she shared with Vogue on the red carpet last night. “It’s my favorite activity here. It’s strange, but London allows me to rediscover myself, to feel limitless. There’s an absence of boundaries. For some reason, I’ve always produced my best music here, or at least determined the direction for my albums.”
Rihanna, draped in oversized tailoring reminiscent of the Phatty creepers she’s promoting, experiences a moment of déjà vu when she was asked about her red carpet regret .”oh my God, it’s something similar to this, which is ironic. It was a brown tan suit that we all adored, but when I put it on, I thought, ‘Hmm, it’s giving UPS driver,’ and that’s not a cute look, especially not for the red carpet.”
Given the association of creepers with emo culture, is Rihanna contemplating an alternative aesthetic, joining the ranks of numerous other celebrities in 2024? “I’m a Pisces,” she asserts with a knowing look. “We’ll always have that emo vibe; it’s practically ingrained in our zodiac sign. I like setting boundaries but also having fun. I enjoy playing with contrasts.”
Unsurprisingly, the Barbadian Bad Gyal counts the Guo Pei gown she wore to the 2015 Met Gala among her proudest fashion moments. “No one will ever forget that, and I’ll never forget the feeling of discovering that designer thanks to Anna’s challenge,” she reminisces. “And you know what? Unexpectedly, there’s also the Stella McCartney crop top and skirt, and the party dress she made me for the same Met Gala, showing a bit of my lower back.”
And when it comes to her attire for the upcoming 2024 Met Gala, Rihanna teases, “I’ll be wearing something Fenty! Fenty Beauty, Fenty Skin, Fenty Savage…” Perhaps a more modest approach this time!
