Rockabye by Clean Bandit featuring Sean Paul and Ann Marie is now 4x Platinum in the U.K. For selling more than 2,400,000 units in that country. The certification was awarded by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) on Friday May 26, 2023.
Speaking with Sean Paul on Friday when we had the pleasure of breaking the news of the certification to him, he informed WMV® that there are at least two unreleased collaborations with Clean Bandit who flew to Jamaica for a writing session sometime ago.
“I actually have collaborated with them on one other remix and we have worked on other songs and even did a writing camp in Jamaica with me and Leftside, they haven’t come out yet but still might,” the Dutty Cup global star told WMV®.
He went on to congratulate the British electronic group on their latest achievement in true Jamaican style “Big up to Clean Bandit.”
Rockabye {21, October 2016) was released two years ahead the group’s second album “What Is Love?”{2018} as the lead single. It spent 9 weeks at the top of the U.K. singles chart and was the number on song that Christmas although its subject matter deals with single mothers
“Its awesome how that song keeps on growing and growing. Big up to all the moms out there,” Sean told WMV®.
The song was written by Ina Wroldsen as a dedication to her son and she was scheduled to be the singer on the song but the label (Atlantic/Warner) wanted to use Ann Marie, even though the band wanted Ina. The other writers include Amar Malik and Steve Mac. The song is certified Platinum, Multi-Platinum and Diamond in 17 countries.
