Sam Smith’s fourth studio album, Gloria, has been certified Gold in Canada by Music Canada as of February 27, 2025.
Released on January 27, 2023, via Capitol Records, the album showcases Smith’s artistic evolution, blending pop and R&B with themes of self-expression, passion, and imperfection.
The album features standout collaborations, including the hit single Unholy with Kim Petras, which topped charts globally and earned a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Another notable track is Gimme, a sultry collaboration with Jamaican artist Koffee and Canadian singer Jessie Reyez.
Gimme was released on January 11, 2023, as the third single from the album.
Smith revealed that the song was inspired by a whisky-fueled night in Jamaica with Reyez, which shaped its playful and uninhibited tone. Its music video, released on January 13, 2023, features all three artists in a nightclub setting, engaging in sensual choreography that complements the song’s provocative themes.
Gloria, recorded at Geejam Studios in Portland Jamaica, debuted at number one in the U.K., Australia, and Ireland. It has surpassed 2 billion streams on Spotify.
It peaked at No. 4 in Canada (Billboard) and No. 7 on the U.S. Billboard 200, while also securing Top 10 positions in Germany (No. 6), Norway (No. 4), and the Netherlands (No. 2).
The album has amassed over 1.6 million album-equivalent units worldwide and received other certifications in:
