The Reggae Gold Awards 2026 took place at the National Arena in Kingston, Jamaica, celebrating some of the most legendary names in Jamaican music, including Tony Rebel and Ken Boothe. The evening featured performances from Richie Stephens, Etana, Romain Virgo, and several other standout artistes.
Hosted by Debbie Bissoon and George Davis, the Reggae Gold Awards was first held in February 2019 at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston during Reggae Month. The event is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport in collaboration with JaRIA (Jamaica Reggae Industry Association).
This year’s staging of the awards was sponsored by Wray & Nephew Rum.
When asked how he felt about receiving the Wray and Nephew Cultural Impact Award in his hands, Tony Rebel’s response reflected decades of grounded perspective.
“Well, to me, it’s a simple thing. I suppose to get it. I work for it. I’m supposed to get it long time. I’ve had many dozens of awards. So I’ll just put this in the collection.”
Yet beneath the modest tone was genuine appreciation — not for personal glory, but for the recognition of meaningful work.
“I’m feeling happy because whenever you make a contribution to your society, you’re supposed to be awarded.”
