Sean Paul’s “(When You Gonna) Give It Up to Me” featuring Keyshia Cole Officially Certified Silver in the U.K.

Sean Paul’s”(When You Gonna) Give It Up to Me” featuring Keyshia Cole, has officially been certified Silver in the U.K. by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) on November 22, 2024. The certification marks 200,000 equivalent single units in streams and sales as measured by the Official Charts Company.

The single, produced by Don Corleone (Donovan Bennett) and co-written by Bennett, Jason Henriques (Sean Paul’s brother) and Nigel Staff, was released on June 6, 2006, via Atlantic/VP Records. It originally appeared on Sean Paul’s The Trinity album as well as the Step Up movie soundtrack. The song peaked at #3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The collaboration with Keyshia Cole played a pivotal role in introducing her to mainstream success, as it marked her first top-10 hit on the U.S. charts.

Elsewhere, it reached #5 on the U.S. Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and #3 on the U.S. Hot Rap Songs charts. It also reached impressive positions internationally, including #17 on the ARIA Chart in Australia, #5 on the Swiss Hitparade, and #31 on the UK Singles Chart.

In Canada, the song peaked at #9 on Nielsen SoundScan and #3 on CHR/Top 40. Other notable chart performances include #22 in Belgium (Flanders), #25 in France, and #6 in Finland. The song charted strongly across Europe, including in Austria, Germany, and the Netherlands, and was a top-10 hit in several countries. It also performed well on year-end charts, finishing at #37 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 2006 and #40 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. Additionally, it appeared on decade-end charts, ranking #171 on Russia’s TopHit Airplay from 2000 to 2009,

The music video, directed by Little X, has surpassed 377 million views on YouTube and features vibrant dance sequences and cameo appearances from the stars of Step Up.

In addition to its Silver certification in the U.K., “(When You Gonna) Give It Up to Me” has earned Gold certifications in the U.S. (500,000) and Canada (40,000).
