Shaggy’s ‘Boombastic Collection’ Is The Greatest Gainer On The Billboard’s Reggae Albums Chart

Best Of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection {Hip-O/Geffen/UMe} is this week’s greatest gainer on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. The fourth compilation from reggaes most popular crossover artist comes in at No. 2 and spends 208 weeks on the chart since it’s released on August 25, 2008. The project was released three weeks after EMI and Virgin Records released a similar compilation “The Best Of Shaggy.”

The music video for the titled track on the album ‘Boombastic’ has surpassed 181 million views on YouTube.

While the video for Track 3 on the compilation “Angel” featuring Rayvon has surpassed 428,247,992 YouTube views and is expected to hit 500,000,000 views by December 21 this year.

Even with the most gains this week Shaggy’s ‘Best Of’ didn’t get enough sales to dethrone Legend: The best of Bob Marley & The Wailers which extended its lead at No. 1 and spent 168 week on the chart. The album first released in 1984 with different remixes and versions released in 2002, 2013 and 20014 briefly left the top spot last September for one week when Stick Figure’s Wisdom debuted at No. 1. Wisdom moves up one slot to No. 4 this week.

Elsewhere on the Billboard chart Dutty Classics by Sean Paul {VP/Atlantic/Rhino} spends 138 weeks on the chart landing at No. 3, UB40’s Greatest Hits move down to No. 5 {236 wks}, World On Fire {186 wks) and Set In Stone {245 wks} by Stick Figure comes in at No. 6 and 7 respectively. Great Is He {OVO} by Popcaan spends 8 weeks on the chart and comes in at No. 8. Koffee‘s Gifted, re-enters the chart at No. 9. It is the only album released last year to make the chart this week.  Burna Boy‘s Outside {Bad Habit/On A Spaceship/Atlantic/AG} holds on to the No. 10 spot after spending 33 non consecutive weeks on the chart.
