Jamaican dancehall star Shaggy’s “It Wasn’t Me” has officially surpassed 1.5 billion streams on Spotify.

According to Spotify streaming figures updated on October 18, 2026, the iconic track featuring singer RikRok has accumulated 1,501,007,356 streams, with over 700,000 streams per day.

Originally released in 2000 as part of Shaggy’s multi-platinum album Hot Shot, the song became one of the defining hits of the early 2000s.

Shaggy Approaches 6 Billion Spotify Streams

Beyond the success of “It Wasn’t Me,” as of October 18, the Grammy-winning artiste has amassed 5.9 billion total streams across 397 tracks, putting him less than 36 million streams away from reaching the 6 billion mark.

Of that total, 4.32 billion streams come from recordings where Shaggy is credited as a lead artiste, while approximately 1.64 billion streams are attributed to featured appearances.

His catalogue is currently generating an estimated 2.9 million streams per day, demonstrating the continued international demand for his music.

‘Angel’ and ‘Boombastic’ Continue to Dominate

Shaggy’s streaming success extends well beyond “It Wasn’t Me.”

His romantic crossover hit “Angel” has accumulated 819,849,192 streams, with approximately 468,533 daily plays, making it his second-most-streamed song on Spotify.

Meanwhile, his signature dancehall anthem “Boombastic” has surpassed 528.5 million streams, attracting another 273,302 daily plays.
