Shakira Announces New Album “Women Don’t Cry Anymore”

Latin Grammy Award winning artists Shakira has set the stage for an electrifying comeback with the announcement of her latest album, “Women Don’t Cry Anymore,” (‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’) slated for release on March 22nd. This eagerly anticipated album marks Shakira’s triumphant return after a seven-year hiatus, promising a fresh chapter in her illustrious career.

In a bold move, the album will be Shakira’s inaugural release on vinyl, showcasing her music in a timeless format. With four distinct cover art editions and each vinyl record presented in an exclusive color variant, collectors and fans alike are in for a treat.

Reflecting on the creative process behind the album, Shakira shares, “The production of this work has been an alchemical process. While writing each song, I reconstructed myself. By singing them, my tears turned into diamonds and my vulnerability into resilience.” This introspective journey promises a deeply personal and transformative musical experience for listeners.

The album’s title, “Women Don’t Cry Anymore,” pays homage to the empowering lyrics of Shakira’s collaboration with Bizarrap on “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” where she asserts, “Women don’t cry anymore, women make money.” It encapsulates themes of strength, empowerment, and self-assertion that resonate throughout the album.

Fans were given a tantalizing glimpse of what’s to come when Shakira teased the album on social media, igniting speculation and excitement among her over 90 million followers on Instagram. The teaser, featuring glimpses of previously released singles such as “Empty Cup” with Manuel Turizo and “Monotony,” left fans eagerly awaiting the full album release.

“Women Don’t Cry Anymore” follows in the footsteps of Shakira’s critically acclaimed 2017 album, “El Dorado,” which dominated the charts and solidified her status as a global icon. With hits like “Blackmail” featuring Maluma and “Déjà Vu” featuring Prince Royce, Shakira’s musical prowess captivated audiences worldwide.

Throughout her career, Shakira has consistently delivered chart-topping albums, with eight albums gracing the top 10 of the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart and six reaching the coveted No. 1 spot. From the groundbreaking “Where Are the Thieves?” to the iconic “Oral Fixation: Vol. 1,” her musical legacy continues to inspire generations.

Despite the challenges of balancing her role as a single mother with her demanding career, Shakira remains steadfast in her commitment to her artistry. In a candid 2023 interview with Billboard, she revealed the complexities of juggling motherhood and music, shedding light on the personal journey that shaped her latest album.

“The last time I released an album was six years ago. Now I can release music at a faster clip, although sometimes I think being a single mom and the rhythm of a pop star aren’t compatible,” she explained. “I have to put my kids to bed, go to the recording studio; everything is uphill. When you don’t have a husband who can stay home with the kids, it’s constant juggling because I like to be a present mom and I need to be there every moment with my children: take them to school, have breakfast with them, take them to play dates. And aside from that, I have to make money,” she said.

The single mother joins the list of pop stars expected to drop albums this year including,- Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Kacey Musgraves, Lana Del Rey, SZA, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Dua Lipa, Camila Cabello, Kim Petras, Charli XCX, Jennie, Lauren Jauregui, FLO, Jennifer Lopez and Normani.
