Google released its annual list of most searched people, artists, songs, moments and the cultural trends this year and Shakira is the most searched artist globally for 2023. The Columbian singer has had a festive year with several awards and breakout songs like “Acróstico,” and “El jefe” with Fuerza Regida which was took aim at her ex Gerard Piqué who left her for another woman.
She who won three awards at this year’s Latin Grammys which includes the Song of the Year award alongside Argentinian producer Bizarrap for the post-breakup anthem “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53.”
Her single “TQG,” with Karol G is the third most searched news item related to her name. That song in the most viewed song on YouTube in 2023 surpassing 890 million.
The top countries where the latin superstar trended the most was Cuba, Paraguay, Spain, Colombia, and Bolivia. She also trended #1 in Italy, Portugal, Peru and #2 in Mexico and Switzerland as well as #3 Argentina and #4 in Brazil.
Shakira made news headlines later in the year when the “Hips Don’t Lie” hitmaker who sold her catalog found herself in the limelight facing notoriety for alleged tax fraud in Spain. Despite settling the case out of court for €7.5 million (£6.5 million), she staunchly maintained her innocence throughout the legal proceedings.
Making top ten list of most searched artists globally in 2023 in order of appearance are Jason Aldean in second, Joe Jonas #3 , Smash Mouth #4, Peppino di Capri #5, Gino Paoli #6, Tom Kaulitz #7, Kellie Pickler #8, José Luis Perales #9 and Anna Oxa #10.
“Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” by Shakira and Bizarrap was the third most song on Google 2023. The two performed the song on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show in March.
