A new Drake and Shenseea leak track has hit the internet, three years after much speculation about the two working together.
The song, titled ‘Plenty,’ was recorded in 2020 in the Turks and Caicos, a Caribbean nation that Drake frequently visits for vacations.
Rumors of the unreleased song started after Dancehall singer Spice mentioned it in a rant directed at Shenseea on Instagram Live, saying, “You all have songs with Jesus, 21 Savage, and a track with Drake coming out. No matter how big the project is, there’s always a problem with me.”
The song was reportedly supposed to be on Shenseea’s debut album Alpha with Drake as the feature according to sources close to the matter. The reason the song has not been released is because Drake refused to clear the potential hit after they had recorded the song according to the sources.
Shenseea, 26, had addressed and debunked rumors that she was pregnant with Canadian rapper’s baby back in July 2021. The rumor originated from a story on 18karatreggae.com in April and spread on social media in June. The story falsely claimed Shenseea had hired a lawyer to look into paternity and child support. The lawyers alleged Isat Buchanan also debunked those rumors false in an interview with Anthony Miller of ER.
During an Instagram Live session, Shenseea called the story “fake news,” stating, “If you don’t hear it from me, it’s not true.” She expressed frustration over the baseless rumors, saying, “People literally get up and tell lies, like it’s not even funny. When I read what I saw about myself on the internet, I was like who even have the heart to do sh-t like this.”
She has never confirmed the recent Drake and Shenseea leak collaboration but had praised Drake as being pretty talented an interview with The Shade Room’s “Keep it 100” series on YouTube saying, “Of course! I would make a record with Drake. He’s pretty talented. So, of course—why not.”
In the interview Shenseea also emphasized her integrity and dedication to her career, stating, “I don’t play with my vagina. Three things yuh nah fi play with when it come to me. My Son. My Career. And My Vagina.” She also mentioned that she avoids posting about her personal life on social media, adding, “Unu notice, mi nuh even post man pon my Instagram.”
Shenseea’s latest album “Never Gets Late Here” has surpassed 26 million streams on Spotify since its May 24 release date.
