The music video, shot in Miami, has surpassed 17 million views on YouTube since its release. In the song, Shenseea communicates her preference for a casual relationship to her former partner, Masicka, who responds with accusations of her being heartless for their brief encounter. “Hit & Run” was the second single released in 2024 to hot No. 1 on the Reggae iTunes music video chart.

The Jamaican singer made international news recently when she reiterated her belief that Bob Marley’s global influence surpasses that of Michael Jackson at the premiere of “Bob Marley: One Love” in Los Angeles. Despite being a fan of both legends, Shenseea told People Magazine that she stands by her opinion, influenced by her extensive travels and observations of Marley’s enduring impact worldwide.

“From somebody who came from my country, I go everywhere and I see people wearing dreads. They’re smoking a big spliff. They have the Rasta colors. They’re trying to emulate who Bob used to be and what he represented,” the Grammy nominated singer said.

She acknowledges Marley’s role in spreading reggae music and Rastafarian culture globally. Inspired by Marley’s authenticity and global reach, Shenseea sees him as a model for her own career. Marley’s family is heavily involved in the biopic, with Ziggy Marley expressing pride in his father’s legacy and the portrayal of his multifaceted personality in the film.
