Rauw Alejandro Nominated For 8 Latin Grammy Awards, Jamaican Singer Shenseea & Producer Rvssian Have Credits On His Album

The 2022 Latin GRAMMYs nominees were announced on Tuesday and Rauw Alejandro’s Trap-Cake Vol 2 release on the Sony Latin US label is nominated for Best Urban Music Album. Jamaica’s Shenseea appears on the album as a performer and writer. She took to instagram to acknowledge Rauw’s nomination in the category and her involvement in his groundbreaking project.

Although Shenseea is narrating her own success on her social media to her 5.8 million followers, as writer on an album she is not nominated per Latin Grammy rules. For the ultimate winner in the Best Urban Music album category statuettes are presented to solo artists, duos or groups (for groups of more than 10 members, the statuette will be presented to the “leader” of the group), producer(s), sound engineer(s) and mixing engineer(s) of 51% or more of the total playing time of the album.

Winner’s Certificates are presented to producer(s) and engineer(s) of less than 51% of the total playing time (if not the artist), mastering engineer(s) and Pro Tools engineer(s).

The song from the album which she appears is Red Velvet produced by Caleb Calloway, Rauw Alejandro and Mr. Naisgai.

Trap Cake Volume 2, also includes Rvssian and Future on the track Fvck Ux2, and Ty Dolla $ign on No Drama.

Rauw Alejandro is up for eight awards this year, including record of the year for “Te Felicito,” his reggaetón-pop hit with Shakira. Alejandro’s “Agua,” which features Daddy Yankee and legendary Chic bassist Nile Rodgers, also will compete for song of the year, marking Rodgers’ first Latin Grammy nomination.

Bad Bunny PHOTOBY ROE ETHRIDGE

Global Superstar Bad Bunny, whose album “Un Verano Sin Ti” is spending 11 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, leads the nominations with 10 , including album of the year, as well as record of the year for “Ojitos Lindos” with Bomba Estéreo. Bad Bunny also is nominated for urban song, urban music album and reggaetón performance, among other genre categories. The Puerto Rican singer, rapper previously won four Latin Grammys, but he has yet to take home a Latin Grammy in the “general field” categories of album, song or record of the year.

The 23rd Latin GRAMMY Awards, the 2022 Latin GRAMMYs will return to Las Vegas at the Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on Thursday, Nov. 17.

The annual Latin GRAMMYs telecast will air live on Univision beginning at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. Central),
